Sudoku Belts
Belts are a weekly league for the sudoku you already play. Every correct cell earns shurikens. When the week closes, the players with the most shurikens in each belt move up one belt, and the players with the fewest move down.

The eight belts
Everyone starts at White. Each belt above it is reached the same way: finish a week in the top 20% of the belt below.
- White beltWhere everyone starts. Play in any mode and you are in the league.
- Yellow beltFinish a week in the top 20% of the active White belts.
- Orange beltFinish a week in the top 20% of the active Yellow belts.
- Green beltFinish a week in the top 20% of the active Orange belts.
- Blue beltFinish a week in the top 20% of the active Green belts.
- Purple beltFinish a week in the top 20% of the active Blue belts.
- Brown beltFinish a week in the top 20% of the active Purple belts.
- Black beltFinish a week in the top 20% of the active Brown belts. There is no belt above it.
Keeping a belt. To keep any belt above White, play at least once in the week and stay out of the bottom 20% of its active players. A week without play moves you down one belt.
The higher belts open in stages as the league fills up. The Belts tab in the app marks a belt that is not open yet as coming soon.
How a week works
Earn shurikens
Every correct cell counts, in any mode. A Daily Challenge or a live match pays 1 shuriken per cell. Classic pays 0.3 on Easy up to 1.3 on Extreme. A technique drill pays 0.25.
Race your own belt
You are ranked against the players in your belt, not against a fixed target. The Belts tab shows who is just ahead and how far the promotion line is.

The week closes at the same moment for everyone. The top 20% of each belt move up, the bottom 20% and anyone who did not play move down, and everyone else stays.
